As the feeling might be foreign at the time, it may cause one to have an unnecessary emotional outburst.

Another symptom they may suffer as they enter the dreaded stage is complete lack of sleep, commonly referred to as insomnia. Many a times they cannot do anything about it. Some start to depend on prescription drugs to help them sleep. They may wake up the next morning feeling tired, causing them to have mood swings. Women who are still working are most affected by this as they may find themselves dozing off during work hours.

Another common symptom women face as they enter menopause is inconsistencies in the menstrual cycles. Sometimes they may last longer and be more painful, sometimes they may not even appear. Women who go up to a year without seeing their periods have most likely entered this feared stage. Should you fail to see them for that long, do not panic just yet. Find your medical practitioner and ask him or her to explain what might be happening.

At that stage, women may experience a lack of libido. This mainly happens because of the hormonal changes in the body. As the body ages, it experiences physiological and psychological changes due to decline in hormones. This although should not cause a lot of concern as with time, after the body regains balance, things will go back to normal and the libido may arise again.

Research has it that as women enter this phase they dread, a good number of them are likely to fall into melancholy. The stress that comes with it causes high levels of depression. Therefore, it is paramount that women learn the signs so that they are prepared when they get to that stage.

It is not advisable for women to isolate themselves once they start facing the signs. The best thing to do is open up to loved ones and tell them about the problems being faced. People may not understand why your mood suddenly changes. Opening up comes with a great deal of support, and people learn how to handle you better.

Women clearly experience a lot of difficult moments as they transition. They therefore need to be shown a lot of love and care during such periods. Having routine medical examinations will also help them more. This is because the doctors can notice when the changes begin and give the best advice on how to handle the whole thing.
