Dental Composite Brushes: Important Facts On Tooth Discoloration

By Ann Anderson

A smile can take you places and it even acquires you new relations. For you to be able to smile confidently, you need to take care of your dental hygiene. There are various dental problems that hinder one from showing off their smile and one of them being discolored teeth. With dental composite brushes, your dentist can reverse all this. However, there are a few facts you need to know about tooth discoloration.

There are three known types of tooth discoloration. The first one is extrinsic discoloration. This type of discoloration mainly affects the outer part of the tooth otherwise known as the enamel. The main culprits of this type of discoloration are things like cola, coffee, wine and others. This can easily be avoided by ensuring that proper oral hygiene is observed when one eats or drinks such foods or drinks.

When one is young, they are bound to be affected by the second kind of discoloration which is known as the intrinsic discoloration. This is when the inner tooth, which is the dentin, gets discolored. When the dentin is discolored, it easily shows via the enamel. When, at a tender age, a child traumatizes the tooth, intakes anything with a lot of fluoride, partaking tetracycline antibiotics or the mum when pregnant or is born with dentin genesis, the inner tooth has a possibility of being discolored.

As one advances in age, he/she gets teeth discoloration. This is mainly discoloration that results from the first two types of discoloration. For instance, due to age, the enamel gets thinner over the years. The result is dentin showing through the dentin causing tooth discoloration.

Unlike other hidden symptoms, discoloration is very pen and notable. If you have yellow, brown or white streaks or spots, then you definitely have tooth discoloration. Your dentist will not have to carry out any tests as all is required is taking a look at your teeth. The dentist will then recommend the best treatment that will effectively see your teeth white again.

When it comes to treatment, there are three methods you can use to achieve your desired results. One there is in office treatment. This is the most effective needless to say the fastest. Here, all you need is to walk in, then your dentist will apply a bleaching paste then you will walk out after approximately 45 minute with the biggest smile there is. However, follow up visits are necessary.

If the first treatment method is not good or convenient for you, there are two other methods you can choose from. The first is asking your dentist to give you age and mouth guard where you can carry out the treatment at home. Alternatively, you can go and buy teeth bleaching products without a prescription and use them at home. These two methods are not as efficient as the in-office one but they are a little bit cheaper.

Taking care of your teeth is one sure way of ensuring that you do not go through all the hustles of having to have the whitened again. This especially applies to cases where tooth discoloration can be avoided. This includes brushing your teeth as and when required. If you cannot avoid foods that discolor your teeth, make sure you brush or floss after their consumption.
