Other sense, although important seem to only come in the second place. When one needs experts in macular degeneration Washington DC offers the perfect location to visit.

Eyesight plays an important role such as helping people to protect themselves from danger. Enables a person to go on their daily life normally without requiring help. Help people to meet and socialize in short it helps an individual life to run smoothly.

Blindness can be devastating, especially if the affected person could once see. When it happens it means that the affected person has to switch to using other senses in order to continue with their daily lives. There are several causes of blindness in humans. Among the causes are accidents and illnesses. The blind cannot perceive color, although it is possible for them to distinguish darkness from light.

Macular degeneration is a condition that results to loss of vision and it affects a whole lot of people across the world. It occurs due to the deterioration of the central part of retina. The retina is the back layer of the eyes which records images seen and sends them to the brain via the optic nerve.

The macular, which is the middle part of the retina assists in focusing of the middle vision in the eye. This part controls the ability in people to recognize color and faces, see objects in fine details, read and drive. When this part is in good functioning condition a person is able to see images clearly. The brain receives the resultant images for with clarity for interpretation.

When deterioration starts to happen to macular cells and tissues, the ability to see with clarity reduces. Advancement in the disease causes one to see blurry images and total blindness is highly probable as the disease gets worse. Complete damage to the macular causes blindness despite the condition of the retina. Loss in peripheral vision is very common. Thus, seeing images peripherally gets affected adversely while central vision remains clearer.

This condition is associated with three main developmental stages. These stages include early, intermediate, and late macular degeneration. There is no loss in vision during the first stage of development. The main observable symptom include the presence of yellow deposits under the retina.

The middle stage is characterized by slight loss of vision. At this stage, the symptoms are hardly noticeable but they can be picked through examination of the eye using specialized equipment. Changes in the pigments in the retina can be detected. The last stage is advanced state of the condition. The eye completely loses vision and goes blind.
