Total Laser Resurfacing Cincinnati Centers

By Sandra Wallace

It's not easy to choose the best method for removing skin imperfections and improving your appearance. Some methods provide instant results, some have to be repeated several times before providing the results you expect, and some may be too drastic for you. Dermal abrasion and chemical peelings are great for surface improvements, there are different options, and total laser resurfacing Cincinnati offers a combination of laser methods you might find really interesting.

This way both deep and surface area of the skin is treated at once, in only one procedure, which simplifies things immensely. The first technique is used to treat deep dermis layers provoking it to produce collagen, while the other technique and another type of laser equipment works on the surface, removing the most outer layer and regenerating skin cells. This way the skin regenerates itself while imperfections and discoloration get removed.

The whole procedure takes maybe 30 minutes. The first stage is applying the topical anesthetic on the entire area that will be treated, to numb it. After that, deeper areas of the dermis are treated, following by surface area treatment. You will feel the heat, and a kind of a stinging sensation. Patients usually don't describe this procedure as painful or especially uncomfortable.

You will probably still feel this burning sensation on your skin for a few hours after the procedure. A mild ointment will be applied on this area, as the protective layer. You will be free to go home and rest. Your physician will give you detailed instructions about possible side effects and medicine you are allowed to take if you feel the need for them.

For these first few days, you should rinse the skin with recommended solutions, as instructed by your physician. Your level of discomfort will gradually fade, as well as the swelling. Swelling is generally individual. Sometimes patient notice only a mild swelling, and sometimes it might be more significant. In any case, it will be reduced in following few days, until it disappears completely.

As it was said, all these side effects should disappear gradually, maybe in about five to seven days. The skin will still remain pink for a while, but now you will be allowed to use a light, mineral make up, and you will be able to conceal this redness. Sun block is a must, although you should avoid sun exposure even when you get back to your normal life schedule.

Before starting the procedure, it is really important to inform your physician about all the medication you take, about all the allergies you might have and about all the things that might concern you. If you get tanned recently, or had any other similar treatment, you should tell your physician about it as well. After the treatment, the skin needs to be protected and you have to use good quality sun block.

This particular treatment is great for removing age signs and different skin imperfections, and the good thing is that it takes only one procedure. But the best thing about it is that it will look even better after some time, thanks to improved collagen production. This will continue in the next six months or so.
