Features Of Good Health Programs From A Health Coach Bergen County

By Martha Walker

Wellness and social problems are affecting societies and most governments are adopting various strategies to prevent these issues. Apart from family, school is what prepares children to become more responsible adults in future. Most goals cannot be achieved if the teachers and staffs are not well. Schools have health education programs but for them to make an impact, these programs must have some qualities. The following are the traits of good health programs from a health coach Bergen County.

The first quality is paying prioritization of characters or temperaments that might affect health and even learning. At an early age or during adolescent, young people might be led into practices that lead to drug or alcohol abuse. Others are stigmatized by the society causing stress which might lead to drugs and even diseases. Creating awareness about these behaviors and their risks will help in a great way reduce risks of falling into the traps.

The curriculum should also be tailored in a way to accommodate the special needs of every person. Assuming the issues that children face will lead to taking a general approach that might not deal with the underlying problem. A program that is focused on individuals will attain results faster than the one that deals with general needs.

Another quality of an excellent education curriculum on wellness is that it should involve influential people. Children or students will learn better or take something seriously if not only the teachers are making efforts to sensitize them on beliefs, norms and the way they carry themselves, but also the parents and role models are playing a part. When they connect with people they look up to, then, the message will be conveyed faster.

Just like any other subject, wellness education should be given adequate time since it is as important. A lesson for one hour on behavior and its effect on the well-being of a person is not enough to make a difference. It has to be emphasized by being taught regularly. Children are used to forgetting things which means better results will be seen if the classes to the topic are frequent.

Moreover, it incorporates strategies of learning and teaching methods. An effective program will use information that is not biased in terms of culture like sexual orientations, ethnicity, gender, and religion. That way, it can create values and behaviors that make students appreciate cultural diversity and strengthen the skills for engaging in intercultural relations.

The teachers should be committed and have the wellbeing interest of the students at heart. The people passing down the information to students need to know everything about the topic they are teaching and possess the skills to pass the knowledge effectively so that those listening can understand.

In conclusion, the program should also address social influence and pressure. A good curriculum will provide students with an opportunity to analyze the personal and social pressures that might put them at the risk of engaging in risky behaviors such as peer pressure. After learning about these, they can easily control the pressure.
