People love taking pictures for capturing moments like when a loved one is competing in a sports game at Calgary City. Some people tend to hire professionals due to the difficulty in capturing the right moment during a game. But doing so is expensive and it is not economical to do so every sporting events your children will be participating in. When shooting at higher speed, use high ISO which helps stop motion and can give you a chance of getting the perfect shot. It is easily done during the day though harder to do at night which requires faster F Stop that may not be suitable for your lens. Compromise by increasing more the ISO so more light can be seen by your camera.

Try different angles and set up in every event so you could get different results than your previous shoots. Let your creativity flow and find new ideas of approaching it with new backgrounds, angles and shooting locations. This would help you capture something that no one else have which adds uniqueness to your pictures.

Prepare something that you could put your equipment which allows you to quickly change lenses whenever you want to. This could be either a fanny pack, photo vest or belt system which are the choices for most photographers to use to carry their things. Find out your preference by trying each of them out and choosing the most practical and comfortable.

Search for a great lens that you could use and the bigger, heavier and longer ones usually are better though may be more expensive. Buy the one that you can afford and they must be from trusted brands by professionals for a long time. The lens should have a tripod mount which helps when using these long lenses that are harder to carry.

Chimping is looking at the camera LCD after every shot taken for you to check them which is not advisable in photographing sports. The reason is that your attention would be taken off from the action and a good shot opportunity would be missed or you could get hurt. There is always a place and a time to review pictures.

Use a slow shutter speed when you want to have a blurry background compared to the previously mentioned higher shutter speed that helps stop motion. Using this technique adds energy to the pictures and creates a clean background. The subject is being focused and sharp looking while the blurry background gives a great effect.

Sports events prohibits flash photography usually due to the tendency of players getting distracted. Outdoor sports commonly have this rule though indoor ones usually allows this. This still depends though on the event itself with most schools ones permitting it.
